"Restructuring 170 hectares of Napoleonic Docks"
Patel Taylor’s proposals won first prize in an international competition and recognised the need to create a new city quarter embedded in the structure of the city. A grid form creates streets, passages, courts and squares. The court typology of the building reinforces the urban grain and is capable of adaption for many uses and architectural expression. This new fabric is knitted back into the city with a series of axial boulevards and transport infrastructure links.
