"Juxtaposition of streets and landscape"
The RAF Staff College in Bracknell is in a beautiful wooded site of 45 hectares, within a ten minute walk of Bracknell Town Centre. The study was commissioned to test a capacity increase from 700 units to approximately 1200 units, and to be used as a framework for the tendering of the site. This was successfully achieved in December 2004.
The concept takes a strong urban form of typical street patterns and aligns it with the mature parkland setting. The resulting framework plan although structured by a hierarchy of streets is animated by a rich variety of juxtaposed spaces.
