"Three linings - outside, courtyard, inside"

A shared courtyard creates a heart for the music school; three linings define spaces. An outer brick ‘crust’ delineates the orchard and car park, with a render lining forming the outdoor room. Public buildings have to cater for the needs of the individual and the collective; a curved acoustic screen reconciles the outside and internal forms, and creates a place for a single pianist or a quartet.
