"Adaptive re-use of existing buildings"

The Coach House and Stables at Orleans House Gallery are being converted into new accommodation for their ground-breaking education programme. The design strategy of ‘new pieces’ complementing old is being delivered in phases. The accommodation comprises an education room, offices, café, gallery and ancillary spaces. Thresholds are dissolved to encourage use across the courtyard and adjacent grounds.

Consultation has been key to the success of the project both in obtaining listed building consent and a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
