"Fragments of new redefining the old"

A programme of restoration and conversion was carried out to form a private gallery and arts centre within the fabric of an old stone barn. The work involved restoring the existing structure and complementing it with contemporary additions which contrast the old in materiality and texture. A render wall connects inside to outside, marks the entrance and creates a central hearth. Ash linings define enfiladed rooms unified by a stone paving strip.
