"Recycle, reanimate, rebrand"
Putney Wharf Tower exemplifies the possibilities of recycling buildings in the creation of sustainable cities. A dull 1960s tower has been stripped down, expanded, reclad and given new uses. The proposal, given consent in an acrimonious appeal, has now been the recipient of numerous local and national awards. Today it is adopted by all with lively restaurants and the public space is home to a Saturday farmers’ market.
