"A 21st Century reinvention of the pier"
A bridge of three parts relates logically and spiritually to its site, traversing water and land. At Cardiff Bay the man-made topography is repaired with an esplanade. At Penarth the existing promenade is complemented with a new walkway, placing the existing pier at the centre of a new composition. The central section is comprised of a draped steel structure spanning over 800 metres on eight pylons, creating a dramatic experience over the tidal foreshore.
"The proposal demonstrates a clear and thoughtful response to the many aspects of its setting"
