Battersea Power Station Phase 4a

Battersea, London

Battersea Power Station Phase 4a is an innovative housing-led scheme, part of the masterplan for the former Power Station and surroundings.

Won in competition in 2014, Patel Taylor was selected to develop architecture and landscape proposals to provide 386 homes at a range of affordability, both for rental and discount market sale.

The scheme also accommodates a large NHS medical centre, as well as over 10,000 sqft of workspaces for start-up businesses.

With a garden square at the heart of the site, the buildings are arranged to provide clear wayfinding to connect the existing residential communities through to the new community emerging within the Power Station masterplan. Hard and soft landscaping offer a variety of flexible, linked spaces to rest, gather and play.

The architecture reinterprets the classic London mansion block typology in plan and external expression. The 98% dual aspect units each benefit from private open space complimenting the public open spaces within the 2.5 acre site.

The scheme received planning consent in June 2015. Peabody is the Registered Provider and delivery of the first homes is anticipated in 2020.
