Stratford Masterplan

Stratford, London

Now enshrined in the London Development Agency and the London Borough of Newham's plans for regenerating the Lower Lea Valley, Stratford, Canning Town Centre and the Royal Docks, the Stratford masterplan is one of the world's largest urban regeneration projects.

In pre-Olympic 1998, Patel Taylor articulated a series of individual, dense mixed-use quarters focused on transport nodes. The new public park at the heart of the area identified in our plan is now the Olympic Park, a green lung in the city identified by high-density terraces shaping and overlooking the oval space.

The detailed, gridded grain, lends a unified overall character and investigates the scale and use of new streets and spaces, ranging from 'ramblas' scale to local mews, creating a convivial townscape.
